Andy Martin
I'm CTO at MJH Life Sciences in central New Jersey, rewiring tech and data with AI, personalization, and agents.
The team is shipping lightning fast on a generational rebuild of the personalization stack across web, email, SMS, and IRL events. We're hiring across engineering, data, and ML. Come build with us →
I was the engineering director for Audible's machine learning and AI platform, powering global-scale recommendation and personalization. The work I'm proudest of there: Talk to a Book (ask AI questions about the audiobook you're listening to, without leaving the app), Maven (LLM-powered search and recommendations), and scaling the recommender infrastructure.
Earlier, I led engineering at Renaissance and data and ML at Alloy.
Before tech, I taught public school in the Bronx through Teach for America after UChicago, then spent a decade in the school reform wars in Newark, helping found a KIPP college-prep high school in the Cory Booker era, then leading data, research, and technology for the Newark Public Schools. Dale Russakoff wrote about that moment for The New Yorker; my retrospective ran in The 74.
I live in Montgomery, NJ with my amazing, talented wife Kerry and our five kids. Information omnivore by disposition.
Why almart.in
At UChicago orientation, my class was the first to claim usernames. I
was early in line, so Andrew Layne Martin of Eagan, Minnesota became
almartin. Same handle on
Gmail in April 2004; almart.in followed about fifteen years later.
(Apologies to the other A. Martins whose mail keeps landing in my inbox.)
